Condemn Recent Acts of Lawlessness on Palestinian Territories
GAZA, (IPC + Agencies) - [Official PA website]- Nasser Yussif,
the minister of interior, stressed yesterday that the security
apparatuses will take a hard line on the law.
According to the statement of the Ministry of Interior, minister
Yussif gave instructions to the various security apparatuses to
intensify their activities to face the increased breaches on the law
and to crack down on the outlaws. The statement revealed that the
Palestinian security forces carried out yesterday a campaign targeted
the outlaws and justice fugitives. 200 policemen and police officers
took part in the swoop on Yata area in the West Bank and arrested 32
persons involved in felonies, robberies, illegal drug smuggling and
defrauding acts. Those people who were on the run from police have
been referred to the general prosecution in order to be brought to
account, the statement noted. It further added that more procedures
and security campaigns will be carried out in various areas within the
few coming days in order to pursue the evildoers and outlaws. In a
separate incident, Fatah movement condemned vehemently the kidnapping
of Sami Ajour, deputy commander of the intelligence service, who was
kidnapped from the neighborhood where he lives. Ajour, who was
abducted the day before yesterday by "a clique of criminals" as
Fatah's statement put it, was shot in his limbs. The statement of
Fatah, which was issued by its office of Organization and
Mobilization, warned of the dire consequences which may take place as
a result of such careless and dangerous practices. The Movement
emphasized that it will show no mercy to all those who try to play
havoc with the citizens' security and try to push the Palestinian
community into internal clashes. "Meanwhile Fatah movement is going
great length in collaboration with the Palestinian factions to
consolidate the dominance of law; a group of criminals come to spread
the seeds of sedition and rifts in the Palestinian society," Fatah
added. It also reiterated its abiding desire to keep the internal
arena away from any fighting, stressing that it will work towards
putting an end to the members of havoc through the national unity and
law in order to keep the security of citizens. The Palestinian
Initiative for Deepening the International and the Democratic Dialogue
(MIFTAH) condemned, on its part, the kidnapping and killing cases
which took place in the West Bank. MIFTAH called on the armed
factions, through its statement, to stop promptly all the crimes,
appealing for them to cast off the members who commit such acts. In
addition, MIFTAH called on the Palestinian National Authority to prop
up the law and to rein in the men of evil, whatever the side they
belong to, and apart from their motivations in order to preserve the
security of the citizens.
